Basic troubleshooting

Common Ryujinx Canary issues

Quick checks for startup problems, system prompts, Linux permissions, Steam Deck package choice, update regressions, and blocked source pages.

Windows will not open the app

  • Confirm you selected a Windows package for your CPU architecture.
  • Extract the archive completely before starting the app.
  • Check whether required system runtimes and GPU drivers are current.

SmartScreen or Gatekeeper appears

  • Treat this as a normal system safety prompt, not an automatic error.
  • Confirm the source page, file name, and platform before making a decision.
  • Do not blindly ignore safety prompts from files found on random mirror sites.

Linux AppImage will not run

  • Confirm the file is marked executable.
  • Confirm the package architecture matches your system.
  • Try launching from a terminal to see basic startup errors.

Steam Deck version choice

  • Start with the Linux or SteamOS package guidance.
  • Prefer Stable unless a Canary release specifically fixes your issue.
  • This MVP guide keeps Steam Deck setup intentionally brief.

A newer update causes problems

  • Note the current version shown in the app or release file name.
  • Try a previously working version from the same trusted release source.
  • Read release notes or issue trackers for known regressions.

A release button will not open

  • Open the project release page directly from the External Sources section.
  • Check browser extensions, network filtering, or regional access issues.
  • Avoid substituting a random mirror just because a source is temporarily unavailable.
